{fixing up champagne cocktails on a saturday with friends}
Though I do find the overused “I’ve just been soooo busy” excuse to be quite annoying, I feel like I’ve found myself saying that more lately than ever before. Between wrapping up late nights at the restaurant while simultaneously working long days at the bakery, hosting out of town friends over three separate weekends, and dashing off to attend weddings in Wyoming and California, I’ve barely had time to sneak a word in edgewise in my own life – let alone sit down to attend to my little beloved corner of the interwebs. With September shockingly already becoming smaller and smaller in our rearview mirrors, it’s nearly impossible to comprehend that Fall is not only here, but that she is in full swing. Somewhere in the foggy and tangled days that were the last bit of Summer, the wind shifted. The temperature has dropped, the evenings have suddenly lost a bit of their sunshine, and candy corn and fun sized this-and-that have sprung up everywhere, beckoning and tempting my resolve.
With my new schedule becoming routine and the uneasy jitters that go along with feeling just so new starting to dissipate, I am so ready to tackle a season that, I suspect, will make me happiest of all to start my days with a hot latte warming hands and the scent of baking scones curling around my shoulders. I’ve dug my boots out and started to drape a cardigan over my arm before leaving the house, and we’ve finally got a couple of weekends just to ourselves, to savor and absorb all of the gorgeousness that Colorado knows how to bestow just so well this time of year. Though of course there are still more weddings, friends, work, and events on the horizon, I am so thrilled to have just a bit of time to get myself settled back in here, and, of course, back to you.
